Sexual Transactions.

Okay, if you're reading this, I hope you're read the cover story of Wednesday's StarTWO, 26th January 2011. If not you will be hopelessly lost and confused. Well, okay, not really.

The cover title of the article is basically "Sexual Transaction".

In a nutshell, the whole article is about prostitution in Malaysia, with 2 paying customers giving their opinions on it all.

"I can only go once a month because I can't spend so much. But when I get my scholarship money, I go more often," said Adam, 23.

I laughed at this. Really, Malaysia? You pick these sort of individuals to give scholarships to? People who visit prostitutes and use money that is supposedly for their education on casual sex instead? Pffft. No wonder all your young talent is all running off overseas. Because you don't give scholarships to those who deserve it.

Of course, the scholarship he has might not necessarily come from the Malaysian government or a Malaysian company, but as he studies here, the Adam guy, I mean, I think there's a high chance that his scholarship is Malaysian.

But oh wait, there's more.

"I usually only date and have sex with Chinese girls, but with sex workers I can call and ask for Malay girls, 'China dolls' and even Mat Salleh girls (Caucasians)," said Sam, who is already engaged but does not think he is cheating on his fiancee.

"I am not married yet, so I am not cheating. It's not illegal to have sex, right?" he said.

Oh sure, it's not illegal to have sex BUT MAYBE IT IS ILLEGAL TO HAVE SEX WITH SEX WORKERS, WHEN PROSTITUTION IS ILLEGAL IN MALAYSIA. Ever thought of that?

But oh, you're not cheating on your fiancee? Would you still feel the same way if she had sex with a random guy she paid to strip for her? After all, she's not married to you yet, so it's not cheating, right? Yeah right, stop deluding yourself, will you.

Does your fiancee know that you frequent sex workers? Has she agreed that it is not cheating? HAH. I bet if you told your fiancee you'd probably not have any balls left cause she'd rip them off.

LOL. Just my opinion. *smile*

Adam also thinks his habit of buying sex is harmless.

"I am not doing anything to anyone. I won't bother you if you don't bother me. I just buy sex for fun," he said.

You really think that encouraging prostitution is harmless? You tear these girls down, you use them for their bodies, you take away their self-worth, you trample all over their dignity, and then you get yourself to sleep by saying that it is harmless.


You think it's fun for them? You think it's harmless? They didn't pick this career path. Some prostitutes might go back to prostitution because they don't have any other skills. Most of them were kidnapped, smuggled, trafficked into the sex industry. And you say it's harmless.

Some of them can't escape from their brothels because of drug dependence. Some because of violence, fear of their pimps, the feeling of isolation and having no one to turn to.

Imagine if you were from a poor, underdeveloped country. You got promised a good job as a waitress in a better country, and you went. But it was a lie, and you got forced into the sex industry. Your pimp wouldn't let you out of the brothel in which he kept you and he hit you if you refused to have sex with the men, and maybe some of the men took you by force.

STILL THINK IT'S HARMLESS?

And then later your pimp agrees to let you out, but only after you've taken drugs. Once you're hooked on it, of course he'll let you out, because if you run, you have nowhere to go, no one else but your pimp can satisfy your burning addiction for the harmful substances that consume your system.

HARMLESS? Yeah, right. Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs) are another matter.

"Usually, I wear condoms but sometimes I don't when the girl does not have it. But these girls are clean, right? That's why I pay more for them than the street girls. They go for regular checkups, right?" said Sam.

You see. You yourself, you're not even sure that they haven't contracted any STDs from previous customers or drug use. So what if by chance you get infected? Are you going to pass it on to your fiancee, who, in your opinion, you're not cheating on? Are you going to pass it on to your kids? Becuase your wife would have to breastfeed them, would she not?

How are you going to face them , the tiny little things, when they ask "Papa, why am I dying?" WHAT WILL YOU SAY? You think about that, think about looking into their eyes, their innocent faces, their lives so unfulfilled, and how are you going to explain that the reason they're dying is because you couldn't control your hormones?

You know, if there is a demand for it, there will be a supply. It is because people like you go to sex workers, that innocent girls are snatched from their lives and trafficked into the sex industry. If you didn't go to prostitutes, pimps wouldn't find more girls, and the world would be a happier place.

THINK ABOUT THAT.

P/s: I am not going to blog about law enforcement regarding illegal prostitution because I might get carried away and get myself sued for defamation. So yeah.
